So far I've followed many accounts dedicated to owl conservation and a few generalized raptor (bird of prey) conservation accounts. Owls are in danger as a result of rodenticide use, which biomagnifies through the food chain from prey to predator. Instead of using proven natural rodent-killing methods (birds of prey & cats), harmful toxins found in rodents instead can reduce the owl population, which further increases demand for rodenticide as the rodents' natural predator dies due to rodenticide ingestion. New York lost a beloved owl to a combination of windows and trace amounts of rodenticide, raising awareness for how dangerous urban structures are to birds. Carl Safina published a book about his experiences raising an owl!
Overall Twitter (X) research has yielded smaller than expected total amount of owl conservation accounts, although this is likely caused by the owl's low total prevalence as an animal.
